Emergent Living: the idea behind the work
Emergent Living is the name of my practice and the idea behind it. “Emergent” is about how change happens in complex systems. It grows out of what people do together, and it can’t be imposed. “Living” is about the places where that happens: schools, ministries, city halls and the teams inside them.
About Jeremiah Tesolin
I’m an independent strategic designer working with education systems and cities on specific projects and programmes. What I care most about is helping a team see and shape its next step, and leaving behind artefacts that last.
My background is in design. I worked as Art Director at Nokia, Brand Development Manager at Marimekko and Creative Director at Iittala before moving into public-sector work. This shapes how I work: I care about the quality of what gets made, including processes and experiences, because that’s often what helps it live within an organisation.
Today I lead strategic design for UNICEF’s global hub for digital education and learning innovation, working with its country offices and education ministries around the world. Since 2022 I have also coached city teams across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Oceania, starting with the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.
If you’re working on something where this could help, I’d welcome a conversation: hello@jeremiahtesolin.com
